Jamie McMahan is trying to get feedback from interested artists for a workshop this fall, Sep 27-Oct. 1 at the world famous Greenbriar Hotel and Spa in West Virginia.

The Workshop tuition rate will be $700 for this initial workshop and he is holding enrollment to 25 students. The schedule: Mon through Friday noon with arrival for a Sunday evening reception. Go to their website. An incredible place!

The date of this one, five-day workshop is September 27 -- October 1. Begins with a Sunday evening reception on Sep 26, and painting schedule: Monday-Thursday; 9:00-12:00pm and 1:00-4:00pm. Friday; 9:00-12:00pm.

E. Idaho Region: Idaho Falls Snake River Greenbelt

Exciting news here in the E. Idaho Region. The Idaho Falls Historic Downtown Foundation is seeking artists to design, fabricate and deliver "sculptural seating" for the Idaho Falls Snake River Greenbelt.  The Snake River Greenbelt is one of Idaho Falls top attractions.  Additional public seating, especially when combined with public art, would further enhance its appeal.  It is our goal to create an aesthetically pleasing yet functional public art seating project which can be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Please take a moment to look over the Request for Proposals and Application attachments you'll find with this email and forward them on to the artists in your communities and regions.
If you have any questions feel free to contact the Project Director, Carrie Scheid at cscheid@q.com.
Thanks so much!

Wellesley Society of Artists Demonstration:

Wednesday, March 10th: Wellesley Public Library, from 7 to 9 pm.

Wellesley Free Library, 530 Washington Street ( on Rte. 16 in the town center).
We are in Wakelin Room 1 (Rear entrance and to the right).

Lynne Damianos will give a talk about photographing artwork with digital cameras.  She will help us to figure out how to get digital pictures of our artwork to accurately represent the original.  For those trying to enter juried exhibits, this information is crucial, since many shows only take digital submissions to enter.  She will cover:  getting the color right; how to set up the lighting, position art and control camera for indoor digital photography; how to choose the location, viewing angle, light conditions and camera settings for outdoors; selection of resolution for emailing pictures to prevent copying by viewers;  getting pictures"submission ready" for entering juried exhibits.    You should bring your digital camera with you as well as fresh batteries and manual (that you have reviewed).   For more information about Lynne, you can check out her website: http://www.damianosphotography.com.

Admission is free and open to everyone, and light refreshments will be served.

Portrait Painting in Oil class at the Wayne Art Center (Wayne, PA) in the winter session of 2010.
The class is 10 sessions starting January 25th, and meets Monday mornings from 9:30 to 12:30.  The cost is $265. including the model fee.  Please contact the Wayne Art Center for more information or to sign up at 610-688-3553.
